I amsterdam launches a free Queen’s Day application

Anyone who is going to celebrate Queen’s Day in Amsterdam can download a special Queen’s Day application as of today.

Overview of all festivities and up-to-date news on your mobile

The free application gives you a detailed overview of all the festivities happening on the 30th April and offers you the possibility of receiving important news and tips every hour via a news feed. The app is bilingual, Dutch and English, and is available for the iPhone, Blackberry and Java (Nokia).

The application can be easily downloaded by SMS-ing Iamsterdam to 5040 (for Dutch mobiles only). The free application can also be downloaded via www.iamsterdam.com and Apple's App store.

Interactive guide

Losing your way on Queen's Day is now a thing of the past. All festivities and tips have a photo, a link to the map and a handy "near me" function, so with one glance you can see what special things are happening nearby. There is also a list of other great things you can do in the city, such as attractions, tours, shopping, museums and where you can find free Wi-Fi spots.

The free guide has been developed for both visitors and residents and also contains general information about famous museums, popular hotspots, markets, cafés, shops and cinemas. The application uses interactive offline maps with GPS search functionalities for locations (near me), which means that foreign visitors will not have any extra roaming costs when using the app in Amsterdam.

Iamsterdam.com is the portal to Amsterdam and attracts and informs visitors about travel, living and doing business in Amsterdam. The portal is an ambitious co-production between Amsterdam Tourism & Convention Board (ATCB), Amsterdam Partners Foundation, Amsterdams Uitburo (AUB), Amsterdam City Council, Amsterdam inbusiness and the Expatcenter.
